Screen time is enabled on kids’ devices by parents and grandparents so that children aren’t on their devices for several hours a day, which can damage their eyes and make them bloodshot. Due to eye strain from looking at a screen for long hours each day, it can lead to people, especially children, needing to wear glasses or even contact lenses if they prefer them.
Many people think that glasses help restore your eyesight, but they actually just allow us to see clearly without the need to squint. Many people do not know the long-term effects of looking at a screen for too long, which can include dry eyes, eye strain and headaches.
Sometimes, the only way to get people off their devices is by adding screen time limits so they aren’t always using them. Adults may use screen time limits to reduce eye strain and bloodshot eyes, which can happen when people do not blink enough while looking at a screen for a long time.
Many say that some parents exaggerate when they are trying to protect their children from needing glasses or contact lenses, but they are simply trying to reduce their children’s screen usage. They do not want their eyesight to worsen or become damaged because they are spending too much time on their devices. Parents care about their children’s well-being and health.
Eventually, children may realise that their parents are trying to help them avoid damaging their eyesight because they care about them and their health. The main problem with screen time limits is that children will sometimes try to guess the code to add more screen time. However, parents may have set an alarm or timer to alert them when their child’s screen time is up, meaning that children cannot easily trick their parents. Children may think that they are being punished by having screen time limits, but it is not a punishment. Instead, it is teaching them how to manage their time.
Furthermore, children may not realise how expensive it can be to get glasses or contact lenses. Eye appointments, glasses and contact lenses can be costly. Sometimes, appointments may also take place during school hours, meaning that children could miss educational opportunities and may need to catch up afterwards. Although some people think it is cool to have glasses or contact lenses, in reality, they can sometimes be inconvenient. This is because you have to wear them consistently and make sure that you do not run out of contact lenses.
Conclusion
I conclude that many people may disagree with parents about their decision to place screen time limits on their children’s devices, and some may say that screen time limits are useless. However, they are not useless, as they can help protect children’s eyesight and teach them how to manage the amount of time they spend on their devices.
